What we need to know

Tell us your licensing authority, badge type, operator and whether your vehicle can still be used for taxi work. We cover all councils.

Check before you drive

The vehicle, driver, insurance and operator arrangements must meet the relevant requirements before passenger work starts.

Council guidance

Solihull licensing information+

Start with the Solihull accident process

Solihull Council asks vehicle proprietors to report accidents to its licensing team within the timescales in their licence conditions. Its guidance explains how an inspection or damage evidence helps determine whether a vehicle can continue in licensed use. Contacting Frontline does not replace reporting to the council or your insurer.

If the vehicle licence is suspended

A suspension must be resolved through the council’s process before the damaged vehicle returns to licensed work. Do not simply move its plates to a different vehicle. Repairs and any required reinspection are separate from arranging a suitable hire vehicle.

Vehicle hire paperwork

Solihull’s published taxi licensing FAQs require the appropriate driver licence, insurance and a notification of vehicle hire when another person drives a licensed vehicle. Ask licensing which notification and supporting documents apply to your particular replacement arrangement. Ensure the vehicle and driver are authorised before starting work.

Information for a Solihull replacement enquiry

  • Your Solihull driver and vehicle licensing details.
  • Whether you are a private hire or Hackney carriage driver.
  • Accident date, damage and whether a suspension or inspection applies.
  • Your operator or platform and the vehicle requirements for your work.
  • Any suitable alternative vehicle already available to you.

Solihull plated car hire versus accident replacement

An ordinary rental and a non-fault credit hire replacement have different payment arrangements. Frontline assesses accident replacement needs; this page does not advertise weekly rental stock. The proposed terms, vehicle suitability and availability must be confirmed.
