Report the accident through the right route

Wolverhampton Council’s taxi licensing website links to an accident reporting service and the My Licence Portal. Follow the requirements in your licence conditions promptly. Reporting to Frontline or an insurer does not replace your licensing responsibilities.

Temporary hire and replacing your own vehicle are different

A temporary accident replacement is a hire arrangement. Permanently replacing a vehicle on your own licence is a separate licensing process. Wolverhampton publishes a “Replacement of Vehicle” procedure; do not assume that procedure is the same as borrowing an already licensed hire vehicle. Ask licensing which route applies to your situation.

Record of vehicle hire

The council’s taxi licensing page has a specific section for recording vehicle hire through its portal. Clarify who must make the notification and what information is required for your arrangement. Check the proposed driver, vehicle, insurance and operator conditions before accepting passenger work.

Working outside Wolverhampton

The city in which you normally work does not change the licensing authority on the vehicle. Do not assume a Wolverhampton plate by itself permits every driver, operator or platform arrangement. Check the complete licensing and booking arrangements with your operator and the relevant authority.
